Why is a CDR Framework useful?

A considerable number of companies already deploy concepts of digital responsibility and digital ethics, as they integrate them effectively into ordinary business processes. New fields of action and best practices are constantly identified and developed.

However, due to the novelty of the concept and lack of standardized approaches, CDR is at times only accidentally or superficially implemented. Exploiting the concept to its fullest potential requires a strategic integration into every business process. Thus, the prospect of enhanced productivity and business success makes the development of a coherent CDR framework even more relevant.

Goals of the CDR Framework

The CDR Building Bloxx aims to be a practical framework that communicates approved implementation standards on CDR practices. Facilitating the national and Europe-wide application and validity of these standards, the German Association for the Digital Economy (BVDW) operates as a mediator and driving force towards the achievement of the following goals:

  • The Building Bloxx aspires to reflect a comprehensive and common understanding of CDR within the economic, political, and societal spheres.
  • The framework aims to provide orientation and guidance through the development, implementation, and evaluation of recognized CDR standards.

Practical Implications and Advantages of a Common Framework

The Building Bloxx is a product of collaboration among a variety of stakeholders, dedicating their knowledge and experiences towards the achievement of the predefined goals. While leading this initiative, the BVDW recognizes the heterogeneity of its potential users. Therefore, the Building Bloxx is sensitive to the diverse requirements and needs regarding the framework design.

The CDR Building Bloxx also provides an effective evaluation mechanism, that guarantees the readiness of CDR initiatives. The evaluation allows for the revision and comparison of measures. Insights deriving from this analysis flow back into the process of adaptation and further development.
